Broomfield honoring veterans, military with month of activities

Broomfield Enterprise - 4/27/2022

Apr. 26—Broomfield will be celebrating veterans and military families throughout the month of May with multiple events and activities.

Workforce Client Support Technician Susan Spriggs said the idea originated as a means of outreach to veterans in the Broomfield area who are job seeking, but in true Broomfield fashion, other CCOB departments have joined the efforts to honor and recognize veterans and military families.

A proclamation is planned forTuesday's City Council meeting to declare May as Military Appreciation Month for the City and County of Broomfield.

"The proclamation encourages all residents of Broomfield to recognize our veterans and our military personnel and their families by displaying the flag of the United States at their homes and businesses throughout the month of May," Spriggs wrote.

Other events planned include career fairs, resource fairs, recognition and refreshments, workshops on breaking barriers, employing people with disabilities and values of hiring a veteran, an honor luncheon and a Memorial Day celebration and picnic.

The Broomfield Workforce Center is partnering with multiple agencies and committees to put on this month of events, such as the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment Veteran Services, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment Vocational Rehabilitation, CCOB Veteran Services Officer, CCOB Library and Veterans Museum, CCOB Diversity, Development, Equity, and Inclusion Team, and CCOB Senior Services.
