Star-News - 8/23/2020

Aug. 23--SUNSET BEACH -- The Committee to Honor America's Veterans (CHAV) announces the presentation of a $2,000Veterans Assistance Program (VAP) grant to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare "We Honor Veterans" program.

Lower Cape Fear LifeCare is a proud Level 4 Member of the "We Honor Veterans" program, in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. The program recruits, trains, and assigns volunteers with a service background to provide support to our veteran hospice patients. This donation will help support robust volunteer teams who perform veteran pinning ceremonies at end-of-life, provide companionship for veteran patients, and assist with community outreach events. They serve veteran patients in the LifeCare center, hospitals, private homes, assisted living facilities, and in skilled nursing facilities throughout Brunswick County.

The Committee to Honor America's Veterans is a nonprofit organization that built the Veterans Memorial for Brunswick County located in Sunset Beach Town Park. The VAP was created in 2016 and since then has donated more than $50,000 to support other organizations that provide services to veterans, military personnel and their families.
