The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory of Early Development - APH Tactile Supplement, model 5-17681-00, is a set of braille and tactile test materials designed to make the Brigance Diagnostic Inventory (Yellow), Revised 1991, an assessment evaluation test, accessible to children who are blind or have low vision. The Brigance Diagnostic Inventory (Yellow), Revised 1991, is a criterion-referenced, self-directed inventory designed to assess the level of mastery of selected skills in children from birth through kindergarten. The skills assessed by the inventory include preambulatory motor skills and behaviors, gross motor skills and behaviors, fine motor skills and behaviors, self-help skills, speech and language skills, general knowledge and comprehension, social and emotional development, reading readiness, basic reading skills, manuscript writing, and basic math. This supplement is designed to be used in conjunction with the print edition of the inventory. It provides tactile materials for items on the inventory which involve visual stimuli, together with directions and suggestions for alternative procedures for children who are blind or have low vision. The supplement also includes labels for marking the print edition of the test, indicating the pages for which alternative procedures are provided in the supplement, and five student Developmental Record Books that can be used to note assessments completed and to record results.
