The Equestrian Lift is a powered, mobile overhead transfer lift designed for transferring individuals with neurological, mobility, or lower extremity disabilities or spinal cord injury from a wheelchair or chair to a horse. This lift, which is based on the Pilot Lift (see separate entry) platform, uses a vertical lifting motion and can be used for transfers from the floor, a platform or a vehicle to a horse, and vice versa. It has three-way directional movement to allow for use with the horse positioned on either side of the lift. The user can direct the lift using the hand control which is connected by a cord to the power unit. The Equestrian Lift uses two slings, one of which goes under each of the user’s legs, and two L-shaped bars, which fit under the user’s arms and can be grabbed by the user being lifted. The lift can be towed behind a car or truck using a ball point hitch. The arm also folds down for towing.
