Fairfield Veteran Inducted Into The Connecticut Hall Of Fame
Stamford Daily Voice - 12/11/2017
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - U.S. Army veteran Thomas Quinn was inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame this week, surrounded by state and local leaders and family and friends.
"Honoring the military service and life's work of our veterans is among the most important ways we as citizens can show gratitude," state Rep. Brenda Kupchick said at the Hartford ceremony. "Tom Quinn stands as a particularly inspirational model of an American serviceman who answered the call of duty to his country and then continued that admirable service long afterward."
Ten other veterans were also inducted into the 2017 class, but Quinn was the only Fairfield County resident honored this year.
Quinn is known throughout Fairfield for his dedication to veterans' causes. He was a post commander and vice commander at American Legion Post 143, and has served as Grand Marshal for the Town of Fairfield Memorial Day Parade on multiple occasions.
He coordinates an annual event honoring the "Four Chaplains," helps to lead all of the town veterans' celebrations and regularly serves on funeral honor guard duty. Quinn is also a staunch advocate for funding for veterans' services at the local, state and federal level.
"Tom embodies the spirit of the Veterans Hall of Fame, as someone who served our country and continues to give back through his work in the community and advocacy for all veterans," said state Rep. Cristin McCarthy Vahey.
