The Odyssey III Talking Globe is an interactive educational toy designed for teaching geography to children with learning disabilities or low vision. The globe may also be adapted for the use of blind children by applying tactile markers such as High Marks, high dots, or Wikki Stix (see separate entries). When a spot on the Odyssey III globe is touched with a special pen that comes with the globe, a clear synthesized voice speaks the name of the city, state, country or ocean that has been touched. Moving a knob on the globe's base produces additional geographical information in 16 categories, including population, area, national capital, national anthem, popular songs, cultural characteristics, history, topography, climate, currency, and time zone. Up to four players can play two interactive games at three skill levels. POWER: Uses four C batteries or an alternating current (AC) adapter. DIMENSIONS: 10 inches in diameter.
