The ED 800 Series Door Control is a door closer and powered door operator designed to provide the level of assistance required by the user for safe, barrier-free passage. The ED 800 is a combination surface closer and microprocessor-controlled electromechanical unit which continuously monitors door position, resistance, opening and closing speeds, and other variables, detecting the slightest deviation from the norm and responding appropriately. The unit functions as a standard door closer until signaled to provide opening assistance, either by user activity or through the remote actuator. The device functions either as a low-energy power operator, opening the door, but capable of being stopped by a force of 15 pounds or less, or as a power-assist unit, allowing the door to be opened by pushing on it with a force adjustable from approximately 1.5 to 5.0 pounds. The unit senses user needs and initiates power opening or reduces the required opening force. Control of the door is passed back to the closer if the user opens the door at normal pedestrian speed. The unit also stops and balances the door when it meets an obstacle or an unusual user response. The device interfaces with electric strikes, exit devices with electric latch retraction, and other access control components. It also fits most installation configurations, including left- or right-hand doors and push- or pull-side mount doors. Vestibule applications will allow a second door to power open as soon as the first door is closed. Closing force is field adjustable from 5 pounds for interior doors to 11 pounds for exterior doors. CONTROLS: The push and go slide selector switch activates and deactivates the push and go feature. Placing the switch in the "on" position allows the door to function as an actuator. The power assist/low energy switch selects the operational mode of the unit. The power assist mode opens the door one inch, after which it can be opened by the user with reduced force. In the low energy mode, the door cycles to the open position as prescribed by four user adjustments: the delay time, or the amount of time the door waits before closing from maximum opening or when it encounters an obstacle, can be adjusted from 5 to 60 seconds; the opening angle adjusts from 85 to 115 degrees; the opening time adjusts for 3 seconds or greater, depending upon the weight and width of the door; and, the door width selector is adjustable to match the width of the door being operated. The unit's endcap provides an on/off switch and a hold-open/close switch which permits the door to be held open for five minutes. A tamper-resistant option is available. POWER: Uses a permanent magnet direct current motor controlled by the microprocessor. A transformer provides electrical output to the microprocessor. ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Power requirements are 120 volts alternating current plus 10 percent, minus 15 percent, 50/60 Hertz. Current: 2 amperes. Fuse: 3 amperes. OPTIONS: A variety of external triggers are available for use with the unit, including hard-wired wall switches, wireless wall switches, frame switches, and hand-held or key-chain radio frequency transmitters (receiver required). INSTALLATION: Concealed wiring or power-cord installation available and the unit can be track or top jamb mounted. The unit is suitable for retrofit or new installation. DIMENSIONS: Controls doors from 36 inches wide weighing 100 pounds to doors 48 inches and weighing 200 pounds. FINISHES: Primed for painting, aluminum, dull bronze, statuary bronze, dark bronze, gold, or black. Optional plated finishes are also available. WARRANTY: The ED 800 is warranted for two years from the date of manufacturer.
