The Canadian Bank Note Reader is a voice output and vibrating paper money identifier designed for individuals who are blind or deaf-blind or who have low vision. The Canadian Bank Note Reader recognizes all Canadian bank notes currently in circulation and those expected to be in circulation over the next few years. Output modes that may be selected by the user include tone output, vibration, and speech in either French or English. There is a volume control for speech and tone announcements as well as a standard headphone jack. The Canadian Bank Note Reader has an ergonomic design that is compact and easy to use. Its two-tone coloring provides high contrast in the areas that matter. Grips along each side prevent the unit from slipping out of the hand. Rubber pads on the underside help it to remain stationary on a table or counter. The battery door moves on a hinge rather than detaching, to prevent loss. The battery simply pushes in, without the connector that is usually associated with a 9v battery. Volume and output selection switches have a distinct feel. A wrist strap can be attached securely to prevent loss and assist in locating the Bank Note Reader in a bag. The Canadian Bank Note Reader comes with a protective pouch with a Velcro flap for attaching to a belt, and with bilingual user instructions in Braille, in large print, and on audio cassette. POWER: 9-volt alkaline battery (included).
