Ex-Quesnel player Mattila spearheads Mental Health Awareness Games in Kelowna

Quesnel Cariboo Observer - 10/15/2017

Former Quesnel resident Myles Mattila, who relocated to the Okanagan this year to play for the Kelowna Chiefs, has organized the Mental Health Awareness Games in Kelowna.

The first of three games will take place Oct. 21, and is being played in memory of a former player in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), Ryan Donaldson.

The Kelowna Chiefs will play the Sicamous Eagles on Oct. 21, and money raised will go to the Canadian Mental Health Association to aid in the development of youth mental wellness programs.

Mattila has long been an advocate of mental health, after founding the Prince George Cougars' MindRight program, and being the spokesperson for mental health awareness program Mindcheck.ca.
